ALPOL GIPS Sp. z o.o. was honoured with a prestigious TopBuilder statuette during the 3rd edition of this competition. The prize awarded by the “Builder” monthly went this time to the Alpol elastic system intended for tapeless joining of the gypsum boards. The awards were given on December 2, 2010 in the Lubomirski Palace in Warsaw. The statuette is awarded to high-quality branded products and innovative solutions in the area of materials, technology and structure. The awarded ALPOL-branded products are innovative and environmentally friendly.
This ALPOL elastic system intended for tapeless joining of the gypsum boards is composed of ALPOL AG S17, a flexible gypsum putty and ALPOL AG S24, an ultra white gypsum flexible finish coat. The AG S17 flexible gypsum putty is intended for manual pointing of gypsum board edges, whereas the AG S24 ultra white gypsum flexible finish coat is used for manual smoothing of gypsum board joints. The above mentioned products make it possible to join differently edged gypsum boards i.e.: semi-rounded, semi-rounded tapered, chamfered square and square edges. The system and its components are basically featured with a high flexibility. As a result, gypsum board being joined perform smoothly, with no cracks appearing on joints. In accordance with PN-EN 13963, system flexibility is measured by a declared strength of board joints bounded with flexible gypsum putty and finished with flexible finish coat (the so-called failure load), and its value is ≥ 200 N. The system components (i.e. flexible gypsum putty and flexible finish coat) are environmentally friendly, gypsum binder based products (no Xi mark is required on the packaging) and are featured with the highest euroclass reaction to fire A1 as per PN-EN 13501-1. Available in 4 and 20 kg packaging, this ALPOL AG S17 flexible gypsum putty meets the requirements of the PN-EN 13963 – type 4B standard. In turn, ALPOL AG S24 ultra white gypsum flexible finish coat, also available in 4 and 20 kg packaging, meets the requirements of the PN-EN 13279-1 – type B2/20/2 and PN-EN 13963 – type 2B.
Advantages of the ALPOL elastic system:
- Flexibility – a permanent joint of gypsum boards with no use of tape. In accordance with PN-EN 13963, system flexibility is proved by a declared strength of board joints bounded with flexible gypsum putty and finished with flexible finish coat (the so-called failure load), and its value is ≥ 200 N.
- Durability – board joints made with the use of ALPOL elastic system are durable and not prone to cracking owing to high resistance of the ALPOL AG S17 flexible gypsum putty and high flexibility of both components.
- Possibility to join differently edged boards owing to a specially selected gypsum putty formula intended for bonding boards.
- Non-flammability – both gypsum boards and the materials used to bond them are non-flammable. Alpol-branded flexible finish coat and gypsum putty are featured with the highest euroclass reaction to fire A1. Of significant importance is also system’s safety in case of fire threat owing to gypsum being a basic bonder of all system components (including gypsum boards).
- Environmental friendliness – the system is based on gypsum products known and appreciated for their ecological properties. Those products secure favourable microclimate indoors and contain no additives harmful to human health. As a result, the packaging of the products in this system is not marked with Xi (“irritant”) sign.
- High-quality of finish – the joints finished with the ALPOL AG S24 flexible finish coat provide an ultra smooth and ultra white substrate being an ideal paint primer.
This system provides all the advantages sought by an end-user i.e.: high durability, fire and use safety, favourable microclimate and high-quality of finish. All the above mentioned system features are secured by appropriately selected Alpol gypsum putty and gypsum finish coat formulas which considerably differ from typical features of gypsum putties and gypsum finish coats.
The use of the ALPOL AG S24 flexible finish coat is not limited to manual smoothing of gypsum board joints. The product can be used for making ultra white finish coats on plasters (cement, cement-lime, lime and gypsum ones), gypsum boards, surfaces being pointed with gypsum putties and on concrete walls and floors. The surfaces, once covered with this finish coat, are ideally flat and white. Consequently, paint consumption is considerably lowered.
The ALPOL elastic system intended for tapeless joining of the gypsum boards is modern and easy-to-apply. Highly flexible and durable, the system is featured with fire and use safety as well as provides favourable microclimate. System component are easy-to-prepare and easy-to-apply; hence, they are targeted both at a do-it-yourselfer and a person dealing with professional drywall partitioning.
