The first ALPOL TENIS CUP 2008

On the 20-21 September 2008 the ROKO tennis courts in Kielce hosted the first trade tennis cup ALPOL TENIS CUP for the partners of the ALPOL group.

At the same time, all amateur tennis players could compete in an open tennis cup, the main sponsor of which was the ALPOL GIPS company.

On the first day of the trade cup (Saturday) games in three categories were organized:
1. Women
2. Men below 50
3. Men above 50
On the next day (Sunday) only doubles teams competed: men’s and mixed.

Having finished the Saturday games, the contestants enjoyed an elegant supper prepared for the partners of the ALPOL group by the Hotel “Under Gold Rose” in Kielce. During the meal the guests sampled the best grades of wine served by Mr Sławomir Hapak, while listening to interesting stories about each of the beverages. However, the main attraction of the evening was a performance by famous Alosha Avdeyev.
Right after the performance, the Saturday cup winners were honoured with their prizes. Mr Władysław Gumułka, the President of the ALPOL GIPS Management Board, gave the first place winners statuettes sculpted by Arkadiusz Latus, a well-know artist from the Kielce region.
The first place trophy in the women category went to Paulina Lewandowska, who managed to beat all the rivals despite being only 12 years old.
The winner in the men below 50 category was Mr Robert Bimek – the owner of the Mini Woka company from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
In the men above 50 category as much as two first prizes were awarded, because two competitors happened to triumph in the same number of matches, having won and lost identical number of games. The trophies winners were Mr Jurgen Oecknick from the Holcim Poland company and Mr Władysław Gumułka, who received his prize, on behalf of the ALPOL company, from Mr Piotr Czerski, the Marketing Director of ALPOL GIPS. Mr Czerski also handed commemorative plates to all competitors.

On the second day, several matches of men’s doubles and mixed doubles were played. Władysław Gumułka and Aleksy Kosman from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski emerged as undisputed leaders, beating their rivals three times and earning the statuettes for winning the whole doubles cup.

In the parallel open competition organized by ALPOL GIPS matches in the knockout system were played in 3 categories:
1. Women
2. Men open
3. Men above 45

In the women category – Aleksandra Ryńska from Kielce,
In the men open category – Paweł Herman from Kielce,
In the men above 45 category – Dariusz Gąbka from Kielce
The prizes and commemorative statuettes were handed by the ALPOL GIPS President Władysław Gumułka and the organizer of the event, Mr Robert Koczotowski.
