Masonry components

Cellular concrete blocks, bricks and silicate blocks or other highly absorptive masonry components.

Substrate preparation
Masonry components should be clean and sound, neither frozen nor covered with frost.
 

Instructions for use
Masonry works must be performed at a temperature above 0°C. Mix the contents of the bag with a specified amount of clean water and stir manually or mechanically to bring the mortar to the homogeneous and required consistency. Allow 5 minutes and stir the prepared mix throughout again. Adding warm water is recommended at temperatures below +5°C. If, while performing masonry works, there is a risk that the temperature might drop below 0°C, the works should be stopped. During small and short-term drops in temperature below 0°C works can be continued after adding denaturated alcohol to water at a ratio of 1:9 (for one 25 kg bag of mortar use 4.7 l of water and 0.5 l of denaturated alcohol). Bear in mind that the previously laid wall and masonry components to be used should not be frozen, covered with dust, frost or snow. Carefully level the wall base. Apply the ready mortar with a trowel and spread it with notched trowels or with a special dosing device with notched edge. Lay the blocks and press them lightly. Once laid, block arrangement can be changed within 5 minutes. Bond the blocks within max. 10 minutes from spreading a thin layer of the mortar on the surface. If the blocks do not have “interlocks”, apply the mortar also to the vertical planes of the blocks. Use prepared mix within 1 hour from mixing with water. If the mortar thickens during that time, stir throughout again and do not add water or water with denatured alcohol, as too much amount will prolong the setting time and impair the resistance to freezing. It will also reduce the peel strength and compression strength. Clean, stainless steel tools are recommended for use.

Tools
Low-speed electric mixer, basket mixer, mortar dosing device or notched trowel, container for mortar and water.

Working conditions
Work in ambient and surface temperatures between 0°C and +25°C. After the preliminary binding of the mortar (approx. 6-8 hours from laying) the binding process takes place smoothly even if there are periodic drops in air temperature below 0°C (down to -10°C). Do not add to the mortar any agents other than denatured alcohol. Protect fresh masonry work from excessive drying, freezing and moisture.

Storage
Store in original, unopened packages in dry place – shelf life 6 months from production date. Protect from moisture during transport and storage.

Notes
The specifications are given for the temperature of (20±2)°C and relative air humidity of (65±5)%. The workability may alter in different conditions. Becomes alkaline after mixing with water. Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. Appropriate eye, respiratory system and skin protection measures should be used. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Keep away from children. Use water to remove fresh dirt or ALPOL AI 770 cleaner to remove hardened dirt. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damages caused by unskilled or inappropriate use of the product.
