Can the interval between applying individual layers of AT 307 lime finish coat be of several hours? Will separation of layers occur? If such intervals are permitted, can the existing layer be wetted with water in order for the finish layer to be processed more easily?

I had my previous flat redecorated a few years ago. There was a lot of dust everywhere after sanding the gypsum finish. Moreover, there was a lot of waste hardened gypsum thrown away by the workers. How can I avoid this?
